In 2019 the Swan Lake Fire between Sterling and Cooper Landing on the Kenai Peninsula burned approximately 170,000 acres. Please be careful.
CLEANING AND STORING FISH
• Please do not clean your fish on the premises, as it attracts bears. Process your catch on the river or have it done at one of the numerous processing facilities in town. Most fishing guides will clean it for you.
• Feel free to store your (sealed) catch in the garage chest freezer until you are ready to ship it home
FISH SHIPPING
Many facilities in the area offer fish cleaning, vacuum-packaging, freezing and shipping anywhere in the world. Two-piece wax boxes or foam boxes are the most common boxes used to transport fish (find these boxes at local groceries stores).
The most economical way is to get your fish home is to check it on the plane in an insulated box.
